Falawoods Staff
Julie Alexander
My late husband, Mark, and I started training in the fall of 1984 in Seattle with a locally infamous kennel called Warnitch. Specializing in Dobermans and Rottweilers, Warnitch predominantly bred and trained for family protection dogs. We trained there with Tom Warden and his son Jamie for AKC obedience and personal protection for about 2 years. After the kennel disbanded, we started our own Doberman breeding program with several Warnitch dogs. About 10 years ago, due to the increasing health problems with the breed, we started a program to enlarge the gene pool by crossing in other breeds. This is a work in progress, For more information on this please see my website talismandogs.com In addition to the Koehler style method we started with, I have worked with Kayce Cover and her SATS method which takes operant conditioning beyond its limits to operant communication. Combining compulsion with precise communication makes for an effective training tool chest. I also have training in NLP--Neuro Linguistic Programming, and hypnosis. These fields work with the body and mind in complimentary ways. And can also be applied to working with animals. After my husband’s untimely death, I still wanted to work with dogs. A series of events led me to Fala Woods as Jon's long term student and assistant. In addition to dog training, my hobbies and interests have included bodybuilding, karate, firearms, photography, videography, and being a hard core data junkie. I'm a collector of information on subjects ranging from astronomy to zoology.
